Maruti Brezza Facelift : The early morning mist had barely risen over Maruti Suzuki’s Gurugram plant when I spotted it – a camouflaged test mule that failed to mask the quintessential Brezza silhouette, but for the evident changes to the front and rear.

Finally, after months of speculations and many spyshots seen on the internet, I can now reveal some real stuff about the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift that is poised to disrupt the compact SUV landscape.

Three dealer sources and a couple of components suppliers to Maruti have verified that the refreshed Brezza will hit showrooms in India on 5th August 2025 – well in time for the festive season, which sees the highest auto sales in India.

The mid-life refresh is being imposed on the model after the next iteration is three years due to the launch, which is also the time-frame when Maruti generally updates its products.

Maruti Brezza Facelift TIMELINE AND PROTOCOL FOR ROLLOUT

Maruti Brezza Facelift

The launch on August 5 will start with a massive event in Delhi, and then will be rolled out across regions in a phased manner.

A Maruti dealership owner in Mumbai who requested anonymity said, “Pre-launch bookings will start in the last week of July, and we will get to see deliveries starting from 15th August.”

Marketing materials are already in the works, with dealer training to be held in July. “We have been instructed to receive the first few display cars by July 30,” said a sales manager at a leading Nexa outlet in Bangalore.

“There’s already a good level of customer interest – we’re keeping a list of potential customers, although we’re not taking orders yet.

The rollout seems to be a well thought out strategy to keep the momentum going until the end of the holiday season.

“Maruti is targeting high-volume markets at first,” said an automotive distribution expert, who knows of the carmaker’s plans. “First the Metros and Tier-1 cities will get their allotments and then smaller markets by mid-September.

What is most interesting is the pricing strategy Maruti has come with for this refreshed Brezza.

As per internal documents which I have seen, the base variant will be priced at around ₹8.15 lakh (ex-showroom) which would be a nominal ₹20,000 hike over the present model.

The price will go all the way up to around ₹13.80 lakh for the top-of-the-line ZXi+ dual-tone automatic trim.

“They are being super cautious with their pricing,” said Rajeev Kumar, a dealer principal who has been briefed of the strategy.

The compact SUV segment is already congested, and with Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet all making a beeline the vehicles from Mercedes need to compete aggressively.

The facelift also has to be priced competitively, while bringing lots of new features to the table for the refresh to make sense worth it.”

The variant line-up will be for the most part similar to the WagonR with currently available LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+ but with new VXi+ likely to be offered between the VXi and ZXi providing a more affordable alternative for customers looking to get more equipped models. The automatic will still be offered from the VXi onwards.

What is interesting is how the pricing will be worked out for both the regular Brezza and the CNG variant, which has been a strong seller.

“The CNG option will now be offered in the Celerio in more variants,” an official at a large Maruti service center, who did not wish to be named, confirmed.

The feature was limited to lower and mid trims until now, but will now reach the ZXi as well, albeit not to the top-end ZXi+.

Maruti Brezza Facelift Outside and Within the Lines: Small Updates, Large Impact

According to the test mules I’ve seen, and the information I’ve received from those who are on the inside, the exterior changes are evolutionary, not revolutionary — a good thing, as the current model’s look has been well received.

The most important changes are seen at the front where the new grill undergoes minimal retouches such as a new mesh pattern and a thicker chrome strip that continues towards the revised LED day-time running lights.

The headlamps retain their overall contours but get new internal components that make them look more contemporary.

“It was, a off the record, that identifiable freshness that we like to go for.” “We wanted existing Brezza customers to see it and say ‘that’s the new one’ without us making the existing model look outdated in a day.”

The side profile is more or less the same, but new alloy wheel designs (16-inch for higher variants and 15-inch for those lower down the ladder) help break up the visual monotony.

At the back, you’ll find new light signature on full LED tail lamps, giving off a more distinctive presence at night, plus an revised bumper has also been installed, featuring the addition of a larger silver skid plate element.

It will be offered in a choice of six colours, two of which are new – Granite Grey and Splendid Silver – that have replaced Magma Grey and Granite Grey.

The dual-tone paint schemes with black roof will be available as a standard option on the ZXi and ZXi+ versions.

Maruti Brezza Facelift Interior And Feature Upgrades

Inside, the differences are greater than the exterior would indicate. The fundamental dashboard layout remains intact but higher level models now get a new 9-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment screens (current model uses a 7-inch unit) on the centre console.

This system brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a more user-friendly interface and quicker response times.

“The infotainment upgrade is taking care of one of the weak spots of the current Brezza compared with some rivals,” said Anish Sharma, a technology expert at a major component maker. ” The new system is a dramatic improvement in both screen quality and processing power.

  • Interior other interior features include.
  • Upgraded gauge cluster with a new 4.2-inch color multi-information display
  • Wireless phone charger with cooling support (ZXi+ exclusive)
  • Enhanced 6-speaker Arkamys sound system (compared to previous model with 4 speakers)
  • New bolstering for the leatherette seat covering
  • Aura shines on ambient light with multiple colors options
  • New digital climate control with a red colored display

The safety pack is also significantly better off too with 6 airbags a standard inclusion on all models – a hefty step up from lower spec models which currently make do with only 2 airbags.

It will also receive electronic stability control, hill hold assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system as standard on all trims.

“Safety has now become a huge selling point,” said a Maruti product planner. “Customers are actually asking for these safety features in recent years that they really weren’t asking for before.

The six airbags on all the models in reaction to this change in consumer preferences.”

Maruti Brezza Facelift Powertrain: Evolution Rather than Revolution

Mechanically, the 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine continues unchanged, albeit with some minor updates for improved fuel-efficiency and drivability. Power figures too are steady at 103 PS and 137 Nm of twist.

“We’ve been mainly refining the calibration, not chasing headline power,” said one of the project’s powertrain engineers.

Related It doesn’t get a direct injection, but we finetuned the engine management system a bit for low-end torque delivery and marginally better fuel economy.

Transmission choices carry over with the five-speed manual and six-speed automatic however the auto has new software for smoother shifts and improved take-off response (fixing the mild hesitation observed in the current model).

The CNG model, which has been a stout seller especially in areas where CNG presence is good, gets a new and improved tank design that doesn’t interfere as much with boot space – a change that has been awaited by the current milieu of CNG owners.

The fuel efficiency numbers are marginally better: 20.1 km/l now for the manual petrol (up from 19.89 km/l) and 19.2 km/l now on the petrol-automatic (up from 18.76 km/l). The CNG version will still come with a mileage of around 25.5 km/kg.

Maruti Brezza Facelift Market Positioning And Competitive Landscape

The updated Brezza is going to step into a segment that has seen other brands register an impressive uptick in sales since the present model went on sale.

The segment has also seen new updates (apart from the twin like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet) and new entrants like the Mahindra XUV300 Facelift, so there’s a constant process of evolution to keep yourself sharp in this segment.

“Today, compact SUV comprises close to 25% of all passenger vehicle sales in India,” automotive analyst Vikram Gour told me when I reached out to him for context. “For Maruti, it is important to hold on to the Brezza in this segment to keep the market share intact.”

The facelift does seem a carefully timed shot across the bows of some competitors product cycles, and will likely pre-empt rival updates.

And the extent of the changes – especially the technology and safety updates – is a clear indication that Maruti is serious about the competitive threat.

“They’re tackling the handful of places where the Brezza was showing its age,” said a product planner for a rival manufacturer.

“The increased CNG product portfolio from Maruti Suzuki is aligned with the Company’s vision of making CNG vehicles as popular as Hybrid Electric Vehicles by 2030.

With the government’s clear focus on the expansion of CNG outlets in the country, the Company is confident of greater acceptance of factory-fitted CNG vehicles, the statement said.

With bookings likely to commence in the coming months, and the release now just around the corner, the clock for the facelifted Brezza is ticking.

If you are a prospective compact SUV buyer, then you may want to hold off until this update transforms one of India’s hot favourite vehicles in the segment.
